Microsoft's Landmark Solar Deal with Qcells
Qcells-Microsoft Strategic Alliance
Qcells has formed an eight-year strategic alliance with Microsoft, under which it will supply 12 GW of solar modules and EPC services. This deal not only positions Microsoft as a major renewable energy purchaser but also underscores Qcells' role as a global leader in clean energy solutions.
Boosting U.S. Solar Supply Chain:
The agreement is a significant step in building a strong, secure U.S. solar supply chain. Qcells is committed to producing sustainably-made solar modules, with plans to supply about 1.5 GW of solar panels annually to Microsoft projects until 2032, all from their new solar supply chain factory in Cartersville, Georgia.
REC Silicon’s Role
The revitalization of REC Silicon’s Moses Lake facility, backed by a substantial investment from Qcells' parent company Hanwha Solutions, positions REC Silicon as a crucial player in this supply chain. The polysilicon produced by REC Silicon will be a key raw material for the Qcells factory.
